about

Back from the grave in all it's glory plus some! Featuring commentary and insights from Todd & Hal.

Run by F.Y.P. singer Todd Congelliere, Recess Records is one of the finest little punk labels in the world, and their very silly Hot Curly Weenie, Vol. 2 sampler has excellent offerings from all the very best, chronically immature punk bands. Encouraging kids to start wreaking havoc in second grade, the Four Letter Words' "I've Gotta Crayon up My Nose" is a homicidal Crayola fantasy, while F.Y.P's classic "Toss My Cookies," also set in elementary school, is about an unrequited crush and features a rockin' toy xylophone. Continuing with the arrested development theme are Jag Offs from San Pedro, whose bratty-voiced singer sounds 12 years old on the very short but perfect "Kitty Kat" and "Porchcore." Kansas City's Sex Offenders' sped-up cover of the Avengers' "Thin White Line" is better than the original. Also, there's Scam magazine editor and former Chickenhead guitarist Iggy Scam's new band, the Hidden Resentments, who are responsible for the pleasantly incoherent "You Got a Job." Even the most destitute gutter punks can panhandle the low suggested retail price for this extremely fun compilation.-Adam Bregman/Allmusic
